Independent studio
A clear home for careful work.
Northroom is a small studio for people who already do the work and need the public page to keep up. One page, plain language, and the legal record in sight.
The practice
Three things, in this order. Then we stop adding.
01
Naming
A name you can say out loud, and a first sentence that does not need a slide behind it.
02
The page
What you do, who it is for, and how to begin. Nothing else until those three are obvious.
03
The record
Terms of service and a privacy policy in plain language, linked from the page, so the site can be published without pretending the legal part will come later.

How a project moves
01
Listen
The domain you already own, the name on it, and the sentence you wish the homepage said.
02
Show
One page, set in type, with the legal links in the footer. You read it before anyone else does.
03
Publish
Point the domain when the page is right. Later edits are the same conversation, published again.
We would rather be understood than advertised.
Begin with a note.
Send the domain, the name that should be on it, and one sentence about the work. If this page should stop saying Northroom, say so.
